Over 91 state procurement representatives from 13 WSCA states gathered in San Diego recently for the 2012 WSCA Cooperative Development Conference. The conference was kicked off by keynote speaker Mark Eaton, NBA All Star with the Utah Jazz. Eaton spoke about the Four Commitments of a Winning Team which resonated with attendees who lead and participate in team environments on a daily basis.
Doug Richins, WSCA Cooperative Development Director, walked members through the current cooperative contracts recognizing the contract leads who provide continuous support to keep them running. There were numerous opportunities for attendees to learn the latest on the eMarket Center with a general session, live demo, and Q&A break-outs. Several contracts such as Natural Gas Vehicles, Travel Services, Electronic Monitoring and Managed Print Services received more comprehensive treatment with focused sessions.
The conference wrapped up with attendees sharing ideas, issues and solutions from their state. Vern Jones, Chief Procurement Officer from the Alaska, was recognized for his dedication and service to WSCA over the years. Jones will be retiring in April so the San Diego meeting was his last WSCA conference.
